John 1:4 (NLT)

4 The Word gave life to everything that was created,[a]
and his life brought light to everyone.

 

I have lived in darkness.  I even embraced it as if it had been a friend, though it brought me only loneliness and confusion and made me afraid of everything around me.  The Light of the World, Jesus Christ, is life and love, and that perfect love casts out fear.  Darkness cannot hide from light, for wherever light shines it eliminates darkness.  So it has been with the dawning of Christ’s lordship over me.  As I have bowed to the will of God and surrendered my own to Him, He has been faithful to fill me with this light.

May I reflect light today, that the darkened might see love and therefore have hope.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
