They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke.
Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
(Proverbs 1:30-33 NKJV)
I recognize that my primary problem was not my addiction to food, but my addiction to my own way. This reference to “the fruit of their own way” calls my attention to that very fact.
Dear Father, today, I thank you for liberating me from my fancies. Please do it again, and help me to walk within the boundaries of Your providence, so that I may be “secure, without fear of evil.”
