Abstinent Today:

I am a recovering compulsive overeater, abstinent by the grace of God one more* day at a time.  †

From today’s entry in Voices of Recovery:

“Many of us begin our day with prayer and meditation…” — The Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous, p. 93.

From Proverbs 9:

12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

From my reading through the Bible,” currently in Micah 5, 6, and 7:

5:But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans[b] of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins[c] are from of old,
from ancient times.[d]

6:He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

7:But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me.”

From the “Big Book” of Alcoholics Anonymous, page 86:

“On awakening let us think about the twenty-four hours ahead. We consider our plans for the day. Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives.”

Footnotes:

*Abstinence began for me on May 11th, 2010.

For the sake of accountability, the details of my eating are posted in my online food log.
